In Eckleburg's Eyes - 2/23/2009, Part 4

News & Notes from Sunday, February 22nd, 2009, Part 1

-For the third consecutive week, I attended the Soul Purpose community group at Fellowship Evangelical Free Church. For the first time since I have joined, the class met in its traditional room. Matthew Loy facilitated the third session in a series on the Beatitudes entitled “Jesus’ Guide to True Happiness.” This week’s installment was based on Matthew 5:5. Once again, the lesson was great and garnered great class participation.
“Blessed are the gentle, for they shall inherit the earth.” (Matthew 5:5, NASB)

-Afterwards, JTH and I ate at the Great American Steak and Buffet Company. We spent the afternoon driving to various Goodwills and discussing life, God and where the two intersect.

-We also visited with JTH’s parents, CEH (aka “Homer”) and KTH. CEH is still plagued with painful symptoms that have not been diagnosed. CEH continues to see a neurologist in hopes of finding a treatment. One of CEH’s friends discovered a similar case online where an endocrinologist successfully treated a thyroid condition. Whereas CEH has what feels like a perpetual, unbearable sunburn throughout his body, the patient in question experienced this phenomenon only in his arms. They admitted they may be grasping at straws but they are desperate for help. Please keep Homer in your prayers.
