Question: Who was the writer of the first letter recorded as being written in the Bible?
Answer: David. (II Samuel 11:14)
Comments:The first letter written in the Bible was from King David to his military commander Joab. The letter instructed Joab to postion the letter's carrier, Uriah the Hittite, on the frontlines in such a way that Uriah would surely die in battle.
Now in the morning David wrote a letter to Joab and sent it by the hand of Uriah. (II Samuel 11:14, NASB)
David wished Uriah dead as he had impregnated his wife, Bathsheba, while Uriah had been fighting battles for David.
Note: This stained glass window depicts king David writing the letter to Joab. It is located in the Milano Cathedral.
