Efface
To efface is to wipe out; do away with; expunge.
At God's request, Gideon effaced an altar of Ba'al and an Asherah pole. For this reason, he was given the name "Jerub-Baal" by the people. The name means "contender with Baal" or "let Baal plead."
Therefore on that day he named him Jerubbaal, that is to say, "Let Baal contend against him," because he had torn down his altar. (Judges 6:32, NASB)
