Bible Trivia - 6/9/2008

Question: Who denied Jesus three times?

Answer: Peter or Simon. (Matthew 26:69-75)

Comments: As Jesus predicted beforehand, his confident disciple Peter denied him three times in one evening. All four canonical gospels document Peter's failure. (Matthew 26:75; Mark 14:72; Luke 22:61; John 18:27)

And Peter remembered the word which Jesus had said, "Before a rooster crows, you will deny Me three times." And he went out and wept bitterly. (Matthew 26:75, NASB)

The real question is what Christian among us has not denied Christ at least three times.

Note: This rendering of Peter's denial was done by an Ethiopian in the 17th Century.
