Question: What group in Jesus’ day believed in Moses’ laws but not in resurrection, angels or spirits?
Answer: Sadducees
Comments: In the daysof the early church, the issue of resurrection was controversial between competing Jewish factions. When on trial before the (Jewish) Sanhedrin, Paul invoked the topic to divide his accusers amongst themselves.
perceiving that one group were Sadducees and the other Pharisees, Paul began crying out in the Council, "Brethren, I am a Pharisee, a son of Pharisees; I am on trial for the hope and resurrection of the dead!" (Acts 23:6)
