Word of the Day -3/31/2008

Obfuscate

To obfuscate is to confuse, bewilder, or stupefy.

After the building of the Tower of Babel", God obfuscated the people’s language. (Genesis 11:9) The name "Babel" actually means "confusion (by mixing)."

Note: This oil painting ("The Tower of Babel") was crafted by Pieter Bruegel the Elder (1525-1569) in 1563. It presently hangs in Kunsthistorisches Museum in Vienna, Austria.
