In Eckleburg's Eyes - 11/17/2008, Part 2

On Saturday night, MPW, RAW, and I attended the Tennessee basketball team’s official season opener at Thompson-Boling Arena. The Vols were quite impressive, defeating an experienced Chattanooga squad, 114-75.

Sitting in our section was my good friend and former West High baseball/basketball coach CDL. He now lives in Norwood where he has been attending Wallace Memorial Baptist Church. He was with his beautiful new (to me) girlfriend who also lives in the area and goes to the same church. He just retired on November 3rd and will be taking some time off before looking for a new job. If any of his former players read this, he has some of the old giant team photos in his weight room at home and has not forgotten us. It was great to see Coach.

My thoughts on the game are posted under a View from 315A.

After the game, MPW, RAW, and I picked up KJW from her grandmother’s home in Seymour, procured some food from Wendy’s and returned to RAW’s home. KJW debuted a new bit earlier in the week as her daddy was trying to put her shoes on. She threw one shoe over his shoulder and said, “You’ll never find it now” followed by a maniacal laugh. Evidently she got this routine from Dora the Explorer.

She also unintentionally used an old bit as we left. RAW instructed her, “Say night night, Keira.” Naturally she repeated, “Night, night Keira.” Rowan and Martin would have been proud.
