Attenuate

To attenuate is to weaken or reduce in force, intensity, effect, quantity, or value.

In the midst of his turmoil, Job laments that talking about his condition does not attenuate it.

"If I speak, my pain is not lessened,
And if I hold back, what has left me? (Job 16:6, NASB)
