Comments: The "High Priestly Prayer" refers to Jesus' prayer in John 17:1-26. It was first given this name by Reformation-era Lutheran priest David Chytraeus (1530-1600).
The comparison to Jesus as high priest predates Chytraeus considerably. 2nd century theologian Clement of Alexandria (150-211/216) also said that in this prayer Jesus acts as a high priest interceding on behalf of his people.
